I earned a 2nd today, & this is a banger. I’ve loved it since the first time I had it, & this time is no different. I realize any Belgian or other beer connoisseur would be horrified that I’m drinking from the bottle, but it’s the best I can do tonight.

Been doing a lot of moving today as we move into a new house. Unfortunately I’ve moved all my beer glasses, too. Just have to drink straight from the bottle. Very nice hoppy kick with this beer. It’s pretty crisp as well.

A lot of carbonation. It hadn’t been shaken at all, but it erupted when I popped the top. Nice, mild coffee aroma and good coffee flavor. It’s a little thinner than I prefer for a stout. In fact, in many ways this reminds me more of a nice coffee porter.

Super strong beers can be very hot or miss, but I’d call this one a definite hit. It has a very sweet bouquet that reminds me of a sweet brandy. The pour is syrupy, and it’s a very smooth drinking beer until the high ABV hits late. Still balanced out well

Not at all what I was expecting. It isn’t really a stout in my mind. It pours really thin like a dark ale, then has an incredibly sweet bouquet. It’s very sweet to taste as well and is very thin. It’s certainly unique, but I can’t say it’s a favorite.

There is a lot of bourbon barrel flavor, but it’s nicely balanced with the delicious Belgian blonde taste. A really stand-out beer that goes down surprisingly easily.

Noah Johnson: Hey Marc, did you notice any difference between the 40 year edition and regular label? I picked this bier up a few weeks ago at Rewe but didn’t notice too much of a difference.
Marc Boggy: I didn’t notice a difference. I suspect it’s just a label difference, because the beer seems to be the exact same.

This is a bigger beer than I was expecting. There is a lot of body. It’s not particularly smooth, but it’s not bad.
