Tom Checketts is drinking a Kilkenny by Guinness at Fountain Lane
A posh John smiths. Creamy and smooth but with some good biscuit and caramel malt flavours. Amber and opaque with a Guinness style head.

Oaky in colour. Slightly cloudy (hopefully supposed to be). Very buttery biscuit malt and creamy smooth finish. Subtle and malty. Slightly generic. Pleasant winter beer all the same
Tom Checketts is drinking a Wheatfield Hopfenweisse by Bell's Brewery (Belfast) at The Deer's Head
Thick and wheaty but rather weak flavour. Some sharp sourness and gentle banana undertones. Tastes sessionable. Not true Weiss but pleasant all the same
Tom Checketts is drinking a Camden Stout by Camden Town Brewery at Althorp Coaching Inn (Fox & Hounds)
Smooth and creamy. Proper good Guinness alternative. A little more flavour than Guinness so only subtly different. More malty burnt biscuit but it’s still subtle enough to make this very silky smooth. Perhaps not quite as thick as the big G
Earned the Heavy Weight (Level 11) badge!
Jet black. No head. Distinct but not harsh vanilla nose. Sweet chocolate, more subtle vanilla and candied sweet pallet. This is not a harsh, overpowering or thick stout. As a result , I like it.
