Santa Caws Chocolate Orange Imperial Stout by Bombastic Brewing

Ally is drinking a Santa Caws Chocolate Orange Imperial Stout by Bombastic Brewing at St. Charles Streetcar - Lowerline

New camera!!!! Well, old, but new to me… Smells like Terry’s chocolate oranges and orange scented cleaning solution (fake chemical note fades as it opens). Medium bodied and easy to drink. Notes of orange oil, stout malt, & a plasticky chocolate finish.

Boozy fig and caramel nose. Silky. Medium bodied. Notes of over-toasted bread, dark caramel, mission fig, date, medium roast coffee, and tangy malt.

Well done Czech, with lightly metallic malt notes throughout. Not overly metallic; reads more like pumpernickel and rye bread crust. Soft, medium body with a bready middle & robust malt finish. Thin enough it borders on crushable, but malty enough to not.

Santa's Butt by Ridgeway Brewing

Belated check-in from last night. It feels unfair rating it because I’m congested, but I suspect I wouldn’t be a fan of it even feeling well. Thin boded for a stout. Lots of metallic & copper notes on the nose & palate. Not overly dry or bitter but… eh.

Gnarly Barrel Select No1 by Gnarly Barley Brewing

Barleywine and booze on the nose—sticky toffee, caramel, oak, fig, an dates. Boozy, almost syrupy palate. Notes of bourbon, oak, tangy date and caramel, & subtle cocoa. I wish they didn’t use a bigoted distillery for the cask, but not a bad beer.
