Hot damn, this is fantastic. It's a chewy, thicc pastry bomb w/o tilting the sugar balance totally out of whack (translation: I can drink more than a few ounces). Marshmallow oomph, choco-vanilla finish. Yum.Earned the Beyond a Shadow of a Stout (Level 32) badge!
There's plenty of barrel and cola-like vanilla - in a good way - but I get a faint cocoa undercurrent on the linger that really elevates this, IMO. TG X probably outperforms this beer on the vanilla front in a side-by-side, but this one intrigues.
There's a mild caramel flavor at the edges of this still-lemony geuze, and this malty component is not altogether unwelcome as it possesses a tannic dry finish just afterwards. Really interesting dynamic, and tasty.Earned the Riding Steady (Level 31) badge! Earned the Pucker Up (Level 75) badge! Earned the Belgian Holiday (Level 26) badge!
A fun beer to revisit after 2 yrs. So much interplay of 'dry' & 'wet' sherry flavors in a spritzy gueuze, drinking so interestingly. I don't think it's developed a complexity quite like Levenswater, and could age beautifully another couple of years.
