Matthew Juggins: I was on the fence about whether this was a 4.00 or a 4.25; it was on the cusp. Then I had a bit more and it made some very compelling arguments. I found I had no counterpoint, could not refute it and consequently conceded the debate. It’s bloody yummy.

Ooh! Lusciously creamy and thick, showing lashings of vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, burnt brown sugar and notes of custard and coffee, the latter of whose bitterness balances out the decadent sweet character. A truly indulgent delight; scrummy!

Not amazing, not bad. Bitter black coffee and dark chocolate just about tempered by smudges of sweet cherry and vanilla. Not enough cherry, but what there is is tantalisingly nice. Rich and full-bodied. Promises much that is only just out of reach.

Quite juicy for a traditional golden ale. A bit peachy/nectariney, with the classic honey maltiness, soft straw grassiness and dry finish. Not bad at all!

Very nice! Rich, creamy, dark, bitter, sweet. Coffee, vanilla and torched brown sugar gently roll over the nose and palate. Good weight, not super heavy but not thin. Nicely balanced. Most enjoyable!

Packed with fruit. Bursting with juicy plum, cherry and redcurrant and just tart enough to be puckering but not wince-inducing. There’s a touch of salt and coriander to round things out and make it a gose. Surprisingly thick. Overall, really rather good!
