This is a great low cost, easy to find Nelson hazy. 👍🏻 Smooth bready malts with intense grape and dank spice from the hops. Full bodied but not too sweet or syrupy. I would prefer a bit of a cleaner/leaner base malt profile, but this is dang good.
For the high ABV, this is really stellar. Orange, grapefruit papaya aroma. Flavor is the same with some light honeyed malt and hints of spice. Super smooth and not cloying or hot. Finishes very clean and not bitter. Hard to beat Alvarado west coast IIPAs.
Thought this was Altamont, but this is the Henhouse version. Great combo of hops. Blanc grapes and dank from the Nelson with subtle stone fruit and melon notes. Very clean. Snappy on the palate with a hint of honey. Lean body. Excellent.
Light toasted malt. Lots of prickly carbonation. The hops are danky, lightly peppery with some pineapple, coconut and citrus. Strong bitterness for the style. Pretty nice beer. I need to get over my aversion to highly hopped American lagers.Earned the Riding Steady (Level 88) badge!
