Nose of dark bourbon. The tongue is nearly attacked by the intensity of this beer. A rough booziness. A dark bitterness. A dark pruniness to this, even if suffused with bourbon. The bitterness is so rough it seems to come from a brewing problem.
Caramel wafts (as if from a firehose) into the nose. A good mix of milk, roasts, and caramel vanillaness on the tongue. Still a bit sweet for me and the roasts a little pinchy.Earned the Taster, Please (Level 49) badge!
Both stoutlike and barleywiney at once. Dark liquor rimmed with tan bubbles. A huge dark bitterness in constant battle with a huge malty sweetness. Among the flavors are caramel, vanilla, maple, and a distinct vinous pinch (likely from the Marsala barrel)
A sweet malt-thick nose, filled with vanilla. On the tongue, the olfactory notes change to taste and they deepen: the vanilla heightens, sweetness increases, and the malt develops layers.Earned the The Wine of Beers (Level 43) badge!
