Douglas Champaigne is drinking a Dragonfly Black Butterfly by Bryghuset Braunstein at Van der Valk Hotel Waterloo
Does not taste anything like a black IPA. In fact, they should try and make a completely new style, because I can not classify this by taste. Not as hoppy or bitter as an IPA. Not as much dark malt flavor as a stout. Maybe a Porter?

Douglas Champaigne is drinking a Füchschen Alt by Brauerei im Füchschen
Ah! First genuine German Alt beer I have had in a loooong time. Malty. A little smoky. Dry with a touch of hops. In a “flippy” bottle. Thanks to Andreas H. For bringing it to Belgium from Hamburg for me. 🍻

Douglas Champaigne is drinking a Waterloo Récolte Saison by Waterloo Brewery Mont-St-Jean at Van der Valk Hotel Waterloo
Another Waterloo beer. Different glass. Floral. Light. Easy drinking. Earthy. Slightly funky.
Douglas Champaigne is drinking a Vedett Extra Pilsner by Duvel Moortgat at Van der Valk Hotel Waterloo
Very dry at the very end. Belgians aren’t known for their Pilseners, so my expectations weren’t very high. More bready aroma than flavor. Bitterness and hops are a little bit light. But on a warm Waterloo afternoon, this hits the spot.
Earned the Belgian Holiday (Level 49) badge!
Not nearly as good as the Füchschen.
