Cider Guide is drinking a Magners Original Irish Cider by Magners Irish Cider
Peculiar deep amber, perhaps from caramelized AJC. Medium-sweet, but finishes a bit drier. Not my usual tipple...but it's a holiday!
Cider Guide is drinking a Bereziartua by Sidreria Bereziartua
Very approachable Basque cider. Not too acetic, not too funky. Give this a try if you find other Spanish ciders too aggressive.
Cider Guide is drinking a Saison Reserve Cider by Cider Creek Hard Cider
I'm impressed with how the saison yeast accentuates citrus and lightly earthy notes. Medium sweetness. Balanced and very drinkable.
Interesting combo of the saison and cider. Sounds delicious.

Saisons are typically dry, but this cider was not. Yet it still worked. Yeast selection took an ordinary cider to a new level. Impressed!

Cider Guide is drinking a Troy Cider (2013) by Motorcycle Wineries
Crave bold ciders? Seek no further. Apple, pear, quince. Wild fermented, barrel aged, highly acetic. Does it all mesh? You be the judge.
Sounds interesting. Also sounds like it has a TON going on.

Subtle is not a word I'd use to describe it! It's certainly one of the most intriguing US ciders I've tasted.

Blend of dessert pears and heirloom apples. Lightly sparkling. Clean and refreshing. 5.5% ABV.
Cider Guide is drinking a Bitter Sweet Funk by Oliver's Cider & Perry
Toasting the launch of my weekly podcast w/ this dry, still, vintage blend. Gets my vote for most challenging English cider in the US!
Same vein, same cidermaker, but I'd venture to say that Posh Scrumpy may be even more challenging...

I've since had the Stoke Red from Burrow Hill, which was challenging in a much less pleasant way. I'll keep an eye out for Posh Scrumpy!

Cider Guide is drinking The Crabster by Tandem Ciders
Turn that frown upside down! Deft use of crabapples to add tannins and pleasant sourness. Another solid cider from Tandem.
Cider Guide is drinking a Querry by Bonny Doon Vineyard
2013 vintage = 62% pear 36% apple 2% quince. Less complex than 2011 but far more drinkable. Lovely tropical fruit aroma from quince.

A quintessential New World cider. Golden Russet, Newtown Pippin, and other heirlooms. Medium-sweet. Best of Show at GLINTCAP 2013.

Clean, refreshing, surprisingly dry. Try it as a base for cider cocktails. Golden Delicious, Gala, Honeycrisp, Granny Smith.
Cider Guide is drinking a Dry Cider by Hogan's Cider
Lovely bittersweet aroma. Smoke, clove, band-aid, rubber all subtle and intriguing, not distracting. A very approachable dry English cider.
