Jan Biega is drinking a Commander Imperial Stout (2026) by Dead Frog Brewery at Untappd at Home
Love the aroma - such PNW piny resinous blended with semi-dark chocolate and strong coffee. Puts me in a happy place. The taste is unexpectedly bitter - in both good and bad ways. The maple is cut short; it’s abrupt and astringent. But at least not sweet.

A great coffee Porter, insofar as it has loads of cold-brew, saturated, quality coffee flavour as well as a roasty malt base. Rich but not heavy, balances acid, roast, grain, and fruity chocolate taste. Quite impressive.

Jan Biega is drinking a Stoutnik Imperial Stout by Longwood Brewery on Boxwood Road at Untappd at Home
Picture a standard Irish Dry - light bodied, airy head, simple roast barley and oat profile with hints of coffee and chocolate - then add in some raisiny, ethanol fruitiness. Plain and less-than for a RIS but very serviceable as an everyday stout.

The fruit - and, more importantly, the sweetness - does not dominate whatsoever. Still, the berry flavour pierces through and compliments the roasted malt and its coffee and chocolate notes. A very balanced, refreshing and tasty porter that always pleases
