Loch Lomond Brewery by Silkie Stout

Andrew S. is drinking a Silkie Stout by Loch Lomond Brewery at The Royal McGregor

Careful pour coaxed a solid 5% oatmeal stout out of this not-too-cold bottle. You can pass on this pub, though.

In A1 condition, which may flatter the beer. Hints at MB's possibilities, no more.

Track Brewing Company by Native River

Andrew S. is drinking a Native River by Track Brewing Company at Salt Horse

Beer was fine but everything about this place could do with a shake down. Coasting, and doesn't merit its former rep.

Brasserie Sainte Hélène by Ceci N'est Pas Un Barley Wine

Andrew S. is drinking a Ceci N'est Pas Un Barley Wine by Brasserie Sainte Hélène

Raisin, prune, dark sugars, and vivid memories of a debauched weekend in Norfolk as a much younger man. However, not your gramp's barley wine, this: 60 IBU, 12% ABV, not 10 as stated. Both trad (UK BW style) and rad (US-style bittering) at the same time.

Flavour profile as per the tasting notes. As usual, VF's description is thoughtful. A collab from two UK titans that's worth seeking out.

Founders Brewing Co. by reDANKulous

Andrew S. is drinking a reDANKulous by Founders Brewing Co.

With more than a year's age on it, some hop character clinging on, but mellowed off with light citric/pear drop qualities as an imperial red. Barley sugar here, too. Not consuming as envisaged by the brewer, maybe, but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.
