Huge head of tiny-bubbled tan head, in spite of slow pour, decreasing to a small rim. Opening up after warming-up, revealing M intense black coffee dark choco, licorice. 1 thing missing here is, surprisingly, hop bitterness. Not balanced. Bit astringent.

Well done by du Bocq. Complex flavours (sweet fruit, candy, honey, grainy, phenols) w/ enough going on, especially for this beer style. Manages to combine power (L-M alco warming, lively M-H CO2) with a certain elegance & roundness. Not a small feat!

Hazy pale amber with a 2-finger white head, which fades slowly. Moderate lacing. Moderately intense nose of grapefruit, pine apple, mango, plus a healthy dose of pine. Nose mirrored in taste. L-M bitter. M carbo. Moderately dry, very soft finish.
