This is still a delightfully, excellent barleywine. It is a perfect end to a crazy week. The barrel character has mellowed nicely and is hiding all of the ABV behind the year or two it has been in the cellar. Truly a gift to my palate.

Having had this on draft, the can version to me, is not as good. It tastes a bit raw, as if it needs a bit more maturation. The barrel character is present, but clashes and overwhelms the malty sweetness I would have hoped to taste.

I am not certain about this beer. After studying the BJCP guidelines for this style, I am not certain this is not flawed. Colour is to style, but there is a sourness to my taste that is unexpected and unpleasant. So not like Elder Pine!

A bit on the grapefruity side of tropical/citrus, but definitely exemplifies the style. Excellent hazy quality, with a pale, almost lemon juice colour. Bitterness is not outrageous and more balanced than I expected.

One of my favourite IPAs. Quite exceptional and I love the hoppy bitterness and complexity threaded throughout. Dogfish really is one of the most wonderful brewers of intense West Coast-like IPAs. Hop expression is just delightful.
