Tran's Son is drinking an Uncle Dave's Rye IPA by Discretion Brewing at Best Western Capitola Inn and Suites
Just delicious. Still bummed I didn't make it to SARA tonight, but these guys really made it up to me. Spicy, malty, rich and flavorful.
Matt H.: Did you check your email? SARA is going to be at the barrelworks liberation this weekend!

Tran's Son is drinking a Cruzer Weisse by Discretion Brewing at Discretion Brewing
Excellent Berliner. Dry and funky. Tastes almost Gosey after my spicy meal. Maybe it's that Santa Cruz sea water...
Earned the Pucker Up (Level 41) badge!
Kevin M.: Still mourning
Tue, 01 Sep 2015 03:21:14 +0000
Tran's Son: I'm mourning too. SARA is closed today!!

Tran's Son is drinking a 19th Anniversary Thunderstruck IPA by Stone Brewing Co.
Meh, I was hoping for something a bit brighter. Get a nice spice from the Aussie hops, but its got musty smell to it, and just a bit boring.
Tran's Son: Downgrading this as I get further into it. Weird popcorn flavor creeping in...
Sun, 30 Aug 2015 06:00:24 +0000
Matt H.: I liked this one a lot more than you! Perhaps my experience was colored by heavy drinking and heavy bottling.

Tran's Son is drinking a Double Dry Hopped Summer Street by Trillium Brewing Company
Interesting. Smooth, sweet, but mostly kinda vegetal. Stoked to try all this Trillium atuffm thanks, Scott!
Earned the Summer Fun (Level 2) badge!
Scott W.: That beer was all the hype while we were in line but I thought the fort point pale was superior.
Sun, 30 Aug 2015 04:19:16 +0000
Tran's Son: I agree 100% Ft. Point was wonderful.

Can't believe I slept on this one before. Thanks for helping me see the light, Scott! Tart, herbaceous. Both fruits really shine through.

Tran's Son is drinking a Tell-Tale Tart by Boulevard Brewing Co.
Where's the "Vulture Eye" on the label?? Dangerously drinkable in this summer heat! Lactic, crisp, and slightly metallic. Decent stuff.
Tran's Son: California dust bowl in the background...

Tran's Son is drinking an Aroma Therapy (2015) by Drake's Brewing Company at The Beer Shoppe
This is really nice. All the fragrant glory that makes Aroma Coma so much fun, but with a big beer underneath. Feels like less of a gimmick.
Earned the Hopped Up (Level 17) badge!
Tran's Son is drinking a Gold Dust by Cellarmaker Brewing Company at Cellarmaker Brewing Company
Damn. Hot shit for an American blonde. Worty, honey aroma. Light dry body, with a sweet duaty aftertaste. Lots going on here.
Tran's Son is drinking a 7 Wonders by Cellarmaker Brewing Company at Cellarmaker Brewing Company
Watermelon bubblegum aroma, and hints of fresh laundry and ocean breeze. I know that sounds gross, butbits great. Super attenuated. Clean.
Tran's Son is drinking an I See A Dankness by Cellarmaker Brewing Company at Cellarmaker Brewing Company
Collab with SARA. Very interesting stuff. I get a lot of herbal notes in here. Mint and cilantro. Soapy in a good way, ha ha.
Tran's Son is drinking a Brett Easton ALS by Cellarmaker Brewing Company at Cellarmaker Brewing Company
Brett is real subtle in this beer, but it is still undeniably a delicious, spicy IPA. Reminds me of a few I tried at Beechwood BBQ.
Tran's Son: Love this place.

Tran's Son is drinking a Heady Topper by The Alchemist
Waited 27 years for this one, Scott. Thanks a million, you two! This beer is like a safari through every style of IPA. Transcendent. Tasty
Tran's Son: Very interesting. Every aspect of this beer has been done better, but rarely all at once. Like the Beatles of Beer.
Mon, 24 Aug 2015 03:27:18 +0000

Valerie W.: And #properglassware too, cheers sir!
Mon, 24 Aug 2015 10:42:13 +0000
Scott W.: I couldn't agree more. Abner by HF was actually my favorite IPA from the NE. Felt it it was the perfect combo of Heady and SoS.

Tran's Son is drinking an Arthur by Hill Farmstead Brewery
Thank you, Scott! More Farmhouse glory from the Hill Country! Definitely more funky and less dry than Florence or Anna. Lemony and grassy.
