Edward Thurmond is drinking a Freestyle by Coronado Brewing Company at emquartier
This is an mediocre refreshing west coast style IPA. There’s not a lot to say about this one. It’s body is a little thick for the style and it has an okay, faintly malty and hoppy, flavor that lacks the bite of other West Coast style IPAs.

Edward Thurmond is drinking an Alesmith 30th Anniversary Barrel Aged Speedway Stout by AleSmith Brewing Company at emquartier
This is a superb classic barrel aged stout. Like it’s un-barrel aged version, its body is on the lighter side. That said, its very balanced flavor is excellent with great dark coffee notes and bourbon barrel wood notes and a hint of cream to its finish.

Edward Thurmond is drinking a Speedway Stout by AleSmith Brewing Company at emquartier
This is a good ole school, maybe overly balanced, coffee stout. While it’s body is light by modern standards, it has a spot on, subtly rich, dark coffee and malt flavor with nice clean finish.

Edward Thurmond is drinking a Maple Banana Bread Circle of Wolves Vintage Reserve by The Veil Brewing Co. at Finger Heart Bottle Shop
This is an okay, extremely pastry forward, barleywine. It has a solid, quite thick for the style, body and an okay but incredibly sweet Thai banana soaked in grade A maple syrup flavor that didn’t seem to have any barrel character to it…
This isn’t a bad NE IPA, It just doesn’t standout... It has solid, full-ish and juicy-ish (I guess), soft body and a tasty enough flavor that’s got an okay, if not overly subtle, touch of hops to its finish.
