In 1732, according to established Cabarrus County tradition, a young Scots-Irishman named John Rodgers followed the
Old Warrior’s’ Path from Pennsylvania into the fertile lands of North Carolina. He then began building his cabin near
Rocky River, the largest waterway in what would eventually become Cabarrus County. From these humble beginnings, the population of the area grew quickly. Throughout the county’s long history, the Rocky River has continued to play an important role, lending its name to many important icons - now including

Cotton was one of the most important commodities
in North Carolina for over a century. The textile industry it spawned was the principal economic driver behind our brewery’s location of Gibson Mill, part of the famed Cannon Mills.
The economics, culture, and even the calendar of the entire region were driven by the engine of the looms. We are thrilled to be able to honor that legacy of hard work and enterprise

Despite its comical name, the Boll Weevil was a serious problem. A beetle that feeds on cotton buds and flowers, it devastated the southern cotton industry in the 1920’s including the critical
textile industries of Cabarrus County. Importantly, this crisis helped to diversify the economies of the South, leading to the expansion of peanut farming, tobacco and other industries.
So while the boll weevil may have been a pest and created serious economic hardship for Cabarrus County, it is an important part of our past. Boll Weevil Brown was created to recognize the bug’s fascinating history and impact. Read Less

A medium bodied red ale. Malty sweetness and caramel flavors supported by medium hop bitterness round out this balanced ale.

Shortly after George Washington was elected the first President of the United States, he embarked on an extended tour of the new nation. On May 29th, 1791 he visited Cabarrus County.
He spent that night in the Red Hill Tavern off of Poplar Tent road, which was owned by Martin Pheifer, a good friend of Washington who served with him at Valley Forge. While the tavern burned many years ago, the roadside historical marker on the corner of Poplar Tent and Hwy 29 is confirmation that our first president slept just a short distance from Cabarrus Brewing Company - Red Hill Amber celebrates this important moment

The spinning mule was invented in 1825, replacing the older
cotton jenny and offering a significant improvement in the
production of cotton textiles on a commercial scale.
A mule spinner was the person who operated the equipment in the textile mills of Cabarrus County. One such facility was Gibson Mill, which employed hundreds of people in this critical action of spinning yarn. We are pleased to use the actual thread spindles from the spinning mules of Gibson Mill as our tap handles and excited our Mule Spinner Stout honors
the hard working men and women who operated them. Read Less

Reed Gold Mine is the site of the first gold discovered in America. In 1799 Conrad Reed, a 12 year old boy, found it while fishing in Little Meadow Creek in Cabarrus County. For three years the 17 pound hunk of pure gold was used as a doorstop in the Reed household until it was identified for what it truly was. As news of the find spread, it set off the first gold rush in America and the Reed Gold Mine became the largest mine in the area. The US Mint in Charlotte was created to coin the gold from Cabarrus County mines, a precursor to the city’s emergence as the
worldwide banking center it is today. Reed’s Gold Ale hearkens back to this remarkable history of our area. Read Less
