Why This Is the Best Beer to Drink on the Beach
When we think of great, but perhaps unsung, places to drink a beer, a lot of images pop into our minds: After mowing the lawn - right before a nap in the hammock. Sunday afternoon, with the game on, before a nap on our couch. After another long, successful day of work, before a nap on strangers' shoulder on the bus. You know what we're talking about. And perhaps the ultimate, unsung place for a beer - and napping - is the beach!
It makes sense. Beer is mostly water, humans are mostly water, and the beach is...near water. So of course, we love drinking on or near water too. It goes together like...well, beer and the beach. And what better time of year, if you're in the states, then summer to put on your flip flops and your fanciest Tommy Bahama shirt, grab some cold ones, and head towards the closest body of water you can find.
In the spirit of one of the greatest beach days of the summer - July 4th - the hosts of the Drinking Socially podcast, Harrison Hickock and Jon Dispenza, wanted to go a little overboard. They're celebrating drinking near the water by featuring TWO BADGES on this week's episode - Ahoy Matey and Beach Bum.
And they couldn't think of a better beer to do that with than the only beer Jaws - by way of eating Quint - ever drank: Naragansett's Lager! Stick with us here. We know this isn't a typical pick for Harrison and Jon. But in the spirit of Independence Day let's just hear them out.
Made on Honor for five generations, The Famous Narragansett Lager has been one of the greats since 1890. Pre-Prohibition era drinkers toasted 'Gansett, Dr. Suess illustrated 'Gansett, the Sox scored with 'Gansett, and Captain Quint crushed 'Gansett. Brewed to be clean, crisp, refreshing and perfectly balanced, this lager screams summer. "Hi Neighbor! Have a 'Gansett!"
So get ready to crush it like Quint with them - and if you're venturing into the ocean this weekend just remember to do it with someone who's a slower swimmer than you. And you'll be a-ok!
Ahoy matey! If you're still wondering why Harrison and Jon are giving 'Gansetts some love, tune in to this week's episode of Drinking Socially on YouTube or listen wherever you grab your favorite podcasts.
