After a wildly successful debut, the Untappd Community Awards return for a second year.  Last year, Untappd, the company connecting brewers, retailers, and beer enthusiasts globally, celebrated the best in beer, recognizing 25,302 beers from nearly 7,500 breweries in 50 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., and 50 countries worldwide. Powered by ratings from nearly 11 million beer lovers on the world's largest social networking platform for craft beer enthusiasts, the inaugural awards shined a spotlight on the world's most beloved beer across 268 beer substyles (more on qualifications below).

Building on that momentum, the 2025 Untappd Community Awards, presented by Ollie brewery management software, will double down on its mission to celebrate the craft beer community, honoring 25,462 of the world's top-rated beers from 7,033 breweries across the globe. 

For our second year, we're doling out awards to the top three beers in all qualifying substyles across all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. as well as the 50 countries with the most check-ins from 2024.

What Was the Criteria?

• Beers were ranked by style according to their average rating from check-ins with ratings in the calendar year 2023. The date a beer was brewed or released was not a factor.
• One user, one vote per beer! We counted the last check-in from each user who checked in the beer in 2023. If a user rated a given beer multiple times in 2023, only the final check-in with a rating counted.
• For a beer to qualify, it must have received at least 50 check-ins from 50 unique Untappd community members in 2023.
• For a substyle to qualify for the Community Awards, there must have been at least 3 qualifying beers in the substyle in the selected geography in 2023.
• Beers qualify based on the brewery's primary location, not the location of the check-ins, user, etc.
• Vintage beers are eligible, but only the highest-rated vintage was recognized. For example, if the 2021 vintage qualified and had a higher rating than the 2022 vintage, we removed the 2022 vintage from consideration.
• Importantly, Untappd team members had no subjective input on these awards. No brewers received preferential treatment. The only criteria were the objective metrics outlined above based on the ratings of Untappd community members all around the world.
