Landing in a tie for the seventh spot on Untappd's Top 10 Highest-Average Rated Beer Styles of 2022, imperial/double oatmeal stouts clocked a very respectable 4.1 average rating on Untappd.
Sure, we all love pastry stouts, imperial/double stouts, and imperial/double pastry stouts.
And perhaps oatmeal stouts aren't super sexy like those aforementioned stouts, but this lesser-known style in particular should't be ignored.
Why?
Well for one, its high 4.1 average rating on Untappd should tell you something.
But for two, because oatmeal stouts take everything you love about a stout—rich, dark, chocolatey—and add an incredibly luxurious, velvety mouthfeel.
