NFL Week 9 In Review meets Untappd Data
Another week of the NFL season is in the books and Week 9 saw nearly 4,000 more check-ins on game day than Week 8 in each city within a 10 mile radius of the stadium. Additionally, we saw our sixth different stadium lead the way in check-ins this week, and spoiler alert, it's from a team in the AFC South!
Each week, we'll take a look at the previous week of games, and take a look at the intersection of Untappd check-ins and data and NFL teams, cities and stadiums! Whether your team wins or loses, join in on the fun!
Thursday Night Recap
Aaron Rodgers was no match for a San Francisco team that was decimated by injuries. The Packers went into Levi's Stadium and put on an offensive show. Sure, there weren't any fans in the stands, but Packer Nation enjoyed seeing their star quarterback throw for nearly as many touchdown passes as he did incompletions! Now, it wasn't a clean sweep for Green Bay, as San Francisco won the Untappd showdown, totaling roughly 250 more check-ins on game day than Green Bay.
It was the Jets last week on Sunday, but the Giants come away with most check-ins on Sunday this week. There were actually about 400 more check-ins for Giants game day this Sunday than for the Jets' sunday tilt last week. Also, there were some other popular beers, and maybe because the Giants have a couple more wins than the Jets do, the ABV of these beers aren't as high!
Giants fans are likely wishing that the explosive aromas of the beer translated to the team's offense, considering they have only scored 168 points in nine games this year.
"Notes of sweet sticky orange creamsicle, mixed Skittles, and juicy stone fruit." The sweet sticky orange creamsicle compares to the Daniel Jones touchdown pass to Evan Engram where he used his fingertips to bring it in for the score.
Yes, New York took the cake, but we don't want to overlook Chicago. Chicago saw a 22 percent increase in check-ins this Sunday compared to last Sunday, and while they lost to the Titans to drop to 5-4 on the season, one of the popular beers in the city could be foreshadowing some future changes for the Bears.
Thoroughly new…. Quarterback? Coach? We'll see...
Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, makes its debut as the leader for the stadium with the most check-ins! Nissan Stadium fell a couple check-ins shy back in Week 7 for taking the crown, but this past Sunday they got the Untappd win (in terms of check-ins at the stadium) and the actual win.
This Kolsch by Yee-Haw Brewing Company is the second-most popular beer at the stadium and the crisp, refreshing nature of the beer goes down easy. Good thing Tennessee's running back isn't like this Kolsch, as he is one of the toughest backs in the league to bring down.
On the other hand, Jamie entered the lions den as a fan of the road team. As someone who has attended his fair share of games as the opponent entering the home team's territory, it's not exactly the most welcoming. However, they got their weapon of choice, which happened to be plenty of Chicago Bears apparel and an IPA with Eureka, Lemondrop, Enigma, Citra, and Vic Secret.
Monday Night Recap
In what turned out to be a pretty exciting game, the New England Patriots pulled out the win against the New York Jets. This sends the winless Jets one loss closer to Trevor Lawrence and the piling of the losses has Jets fans rather frustrated. However, this is the second straight week despite the Jets losing the game, they blew out their opponent in terms of Untappd check-ins! While New York had the quantity of check-ins, one New England fan, in particular, had the quality of his check-in.
