NFL Week 14 In Review Meets Untappd Data

Responsive image

What an exciting week of football it was! The playoff picture is becoming clearer and certain stadiums/cities are starting to see a shift in Untappd check-ins. Up in the northeast, where it is getting colder by the day, some of those crisp lagers and session IPAs are turning into stouts and winter warmers! Nonetheless, continue reading to see which city and stadium led the way in check-ins this week, as well as how you can get your check-in featured in next week's review!

Each week, we'll take a look at the previous week of games, and take a look at the intersection of Untappd check-ins and data and NFL teams, cities and stadiums! Whether your team wins or loses, join in on the fun!

Thursday Night Recap

The Rams beat the Patriots on Thursday night 24-3, thanks in large part to a strong defensive showing and rookie Cam Akers rumbling for 171 yards on the ground. In fact, the difference in check-ins between the two cities (180) was very close to Akers' rushing total. Within a 10 mile radius of the stadium, Los Angeles logged more check-ins than New England, making it a clean sweep for the Rams on Thursday.

Top City

The city of Chicago fell about 44 check-ins shy of East Rutherford, NJ and New York for most check-ins this week. The city of Philadelphia deserves some recognition this week, as their 3,439 check-ins within 10 miles of Lincoln Financial Field was third-most of the week, is the second straight week of more check-ins from the week prior, and marks their highest mark since we began tracking back in Week 8. As the weather remains rather chilly in Pennsylvania, it's no surprise some of the more popular beers are wintertime favorites and an IPA from Tired Hands with notes of guava bubblegum and champagne mango.

Top Stadium

For the first time this year, Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, led the way in check-ins! This marks the eighth different stadium to lead in check-ins in a given week in the 2020 season and interestingly enough, the Panthers now become the third team in their division to lead in check-ins (Atlanta in Week 7 & New Orleans in Week 11). While the Panthers ultimately fell short against the Broncos, it was a beautiful day in Charlotte and a rather exciting game between 4-8 teams.

Monday Night Recap

WOW. That's all that can be said about Monday's game between divisional foes. It was a high-scoring, action-packed affair that ultimately saw the Ravens emerge victorious by a score of 47-42. Baltimore won on the field, and bested Cleveland in terms of check-ins on Monday as well. It was a clean sweep for the Ravens, but anyone who watched the game was a winner. This was arguably one of the best games of the year, and the stars shined.

Hey, this means the Jets at least got in field goal range! That's almost a win, but missed field goals on an offensively-challenged team are a punch in the gut.
