NFL Divisional Round Review Meets Untappd Data

While the games weren't ultimately as high-scoring as many anticipated, it was still a good weekend of football, especially if you pledge your fandom to the Packers, Buccaneers, Bills or Chiefs! This week, we take a quick look back at the action over the weekend, see who advanced in the Untappd playoffs, and of course, your check-ins! There's one team that is in the conference championship in both reality and the Untappd gridiron. Do you know which team it is? Read on to find out...
Reality vs. Untappd
Only three cities had fewer check-ins than its average from the regular season, so overall, for playoff teams, check-ins were up! There was a lot of good football over the weekend to enjoy and from the check-ins I was tagged in, a lot of delicious beverages were consumed! Let's dive in and see how these teams fared on the field, as well as on the Untappd gridiron.
Rams vs. Packers
The matchup featured the high-powered Green Bay offense and the lockdown Los Angeles defense. Aaron Rodgers continues his MVP campaign and leads the Packers to the NFC Championship game. The Packers won 32-18 and spoiler alert… They are the only team who made it to the Conference Championship game in reality and the Untappd matchup!
Ravens vs. Bills
A 101-yard interception return was the icing on the cake, or table, that sent Buffalo to the AFC Championship game. Josh Allen has Bills Mafia excited and breaking tables left and right, but don't lose sight of the generous nature of Bills Mafia. Collectively, Bills Mafia has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Lamar Jackson's favorite charity after he left the game early due to a concussion.
Browns vs. Chiefs
A scary injury to Patrick Mahomes gave Cleveland new life, not to mention a horrible Chad Henne interception. However, a heartbreaking fumble out of the end zone and a gutsy 3rd down run by Henne ultimately ended Cleveland's postseason run. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will host Buffalo in the AFC Championship game.
Buccaneers vs. Saints
In a battle of veteran quarterbacks with a combined 172 years of life experience between the two, the Bucs outlasted the Saints. Tom Brady heads to the NFC Championship game -- that was weird to write -- while Drew Brees likely heads to retirement after storied career. Some unfortunate turnovers that led to Tampa Bay touchdowns was the demise of the New Orleans Saints.
Now, that was reality. What about the Untappd bracket? Let's take a look at those matchups based on increase/decrease from check-ins compared to the regular season average.
Ravens vs. Chiefs: Both teams saw an increase, but Baltimore's was substantially larger. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens move on!
Steelers vs. Bills: Bills Mafia had a nice jump in check-ins as well, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to surpass Pittsburgh's 20.78% increase in check-ins.
Bears vs. Packers: Following a bye, Green Bay had a massive increase in check-ins compared to the season average. It was a 44.77% increase to be exact! We get our first team still in it in reality advancing to the Untappd NFC Championship game.
Buccaneers vs. Seahawks: Tom Brady might be going to the NFC Championship in reality, but it's Seattle that advances here.
So, in reality we have the Bills vs. Chiefs and Buccaneers vs. Packers for the conference championships, but in the Untappd matchup, we have Ravens vs. Steelers and Seahawks vs. Packers.
Top Stadium
On Super Wild Card Weekend, Lambeau Field led the way in total check-ins. With fans in the stands and despite frigid temperatures, Green Bay was loud! Aaron Rodgers continues his MVP season, marching the offense up and down the field at will. Sure, Green Bay has some concerns with its run defense, but if Rodgers and Co. keep putting up points at this pace, it might not matter! The Packers handled the Rams 32-18, they won in the Untappd matchup and get the honor of having the most check-in at the stadium this week1
