October 4th, 2023 is Canadian Beer Day! It's a day dedicated to celebrating Canadian Beer and the people who brew, sell, deliver, serve, pour, or enjoy it.

This year's theme, Passion & Pride: The People Behind Canadian Beer is a celebration of the people involved in crafting our nation's favourite beverage, from the dedicated farmers growing the finest grains to the skilled bartenders expertly pouring pints.

In a 2021 survey, Canadian beer ranked second only to Canadian maple syrup as products and brands that Canadians are most proud of. The majority also believe Canada makes amongst the very best beer in the world.

88% of beer consumed annually in Canada is made in Canada, amongst the highest domestic ratio of any agri-food sector. While breweries across Canada directly emply over 21,000 Canadians, Canadian beer supports 149,000 jobs from restaurants & hospitality to tourism, agriculture & transportation and plays a crucial role in our economy and communities from coast-to-coast. There are 1,310 breweries in Canada today with 78% producing less than 200,000 liters annually.
