It's Dessert Time!

Responsive image

A piña colada-style stout aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels for 22 months, Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrel Aged OFYMD is a pastry meets tiki beer from Westbrook Brewing Co.

An Imperial breakfast stout fermented with an irresponsible amount of maple syrup and aged on whole-bean coffee from local Oregon roasters, Double Stack is the ultimate breakfast of champions from Great Notion

What do both of these beers share in common?

Marshmallow, chocolate, apple pie! Cakes and cookies catch my eye. Churn that butter, twist and shout. Put it in a pastry stout!

Yes, these two beers are boozy, indulgent, and perfect renditions of pastry stouts that are great for unlocking the new core Dessert Time badge

And Untappd's Drinking Socially podcast hosts Harrison Hickok and Jon Dispenza are indulging in both on this week's episode. Although, it's a little unclear whether they drank Double Stack and OFYMD at breakfast or after dinner.

Regardless, sweets are often eaten as a means of celebration, or comfort... and dessert beer has become a bit of both. Jon loves pastry stouts for combining two of his favorite things in one can or bottle. And he often keeps them for special occasions (sometimes those can just be a "Wednesday!").

Whatever day of the week or time of day you enjoy your pastry stouts, right now it's dessert time! Hear what other pastry stouts are satisfying Harrison and Jon's sweet tooth by tuning into this week's episode of Drinking Socially on YouTube or listening wherever you grab your favorite podcasts.
