Abi is a post–production generalist who does freelance design and film work ranging from business conference motion graphics to TV trailers. She's working on narrowing her sights in on a more specific field within the world of post–production but currently specializes in not having a specialty. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and trying to figure out how to engineer a time turner so she can actually have some free time. She has recently become a mom to two stray kittens that she found in a bush. Abi, what inspires your artistic side?

Creating art brings me a sense of peace, so I'm often inspired by dissonance in my life and in the world. I'm also inspired by the art of other creators, and I love to find art that evokes such strong emotion that I'll feel moved to create something completely unrelated based on that feeling. It's one reason why I love collaboration.

What's your earliest memory of creating an artistic piece?

My mom used to love to draw with my brothers and me when we were young (probably because it kept us quiet and stationary for even a little while), and I remember being about 5 or 6 and sitting around the kitchen table of my childhood home drawing with my family, creating still life renderings from around the farm.

What inspired the artwork you created for "Empowerment"?

Because my label is for women's empowerment, I wanted to find something to be inclusive of all women and femme–aligned folks. I was inspired by the idea of the Divine Feminine, which embodies the feminine energy that flows through all humans across the gender spectrum. From there, I drew connections to goddesses who symbolize some aspect of the Divine Feminine and after collaborating with some of the folks at Untappd, we decided on goddesses specifically connected with beer and brewing from several different cultures – Ninkasi, Mbaba Mwana Waresa, and St. Brigid.

What is your go-to beer when you're marking art?

I love beer and my favorites are sours. I'm a big fan of Gose sours of course, and I'll drink almost anything from Right Proper or Aslin (both DC–based breweries).
