At thirty-nine, Boske, a former Dutch international rugby player, says he had drank plenty of beer over his lifetime. 

"But I also went eleven months without drinking, and I actually liked that lifestyle," he shares, noting he had one problem. "There weren't many NA beers that I could drink all night."

What Is the Goal of Beer With Benefits?

While taking a break from alcohol, Boske says he drank only a few NA beers that he actually liked. 

With the idea to make his own version, Boske approached his friend and business partner, van der Zel, and told him, "It was crazy that no one had made a functional beer yet." 

Although packed with nutrients and protein, Beer With Benefits isn't just a marketing trick. 

"We had a strict rule," shares Boske. "The beer had to taste great first." 

Boske says he chose an IPA base for this low-alcohol beer brewed with American hops because he's a big fan of the style, and it was the most exciting challenge. 

As far as we can tell, no other NA IPA exists with the added benefits of protein and vitamins. 

As to how they magically add the protein to the beer? 

"That's our little secret!" says Boske.

According to Boske, the 5g of protein per can can support muscle recovery and help maintain muscle mass. 

The Vitamin B12 in the can will boost energy and help with focus to keep you awake and sharp, while Vitamin C strengthens your immune system, making it easier to recover from stress, workouts, or life in general. 

Lastly, Vitamin D3 supports bone health and muscle function, which Boske says is especially useful if you don't find yourself outside in the sun very often.
