Beer Lovers: Time For a Beer Run

Some beer runs are so momentous — so essential — they deserve their own special holiday.

National Independent Beer Run Day, observed annually on July 3, is dedicated to supporting and celebrating independent beer in advance of Independence Day.

For beer lovers, #BeerRunDay is often for provisioning — stocking up on local favorites for a Fourth of July gathering; but it's also for promoting immediate gratification — enjoyment right at the brewery, surrounded by friends and family. The most sublime beer runs involve both scenarios: sipping at the brewery and then leaving with arms full of fresh craft beer for later.

For small and independent breweries, the Fourth of July period is like Black Friday. Craft beer is a natural complement to picnics, barbeques, family reunions, cookouts, and camping trips. When it comes to essential shopping-list items for Independence Day, independent beer is right up there with charcoal briquettes, sparklers, and sunscreen.

In partnership with the Brewers Association we invite you to toast the local businesses that have endured tough times to ensure our glasses, growlers, and beer fridges remain full. And yes, there's a badge! To earn it simply check-in any beer from an American independent craft brewery between June 28 and July 5, 2021.

Crush a cold one for independence this Independence Day. Outside, grillside, or poolside, be sure to stock your cooler with independent craft beer and support small businesses. Find a local brewery near you to grab a pint that makes an impact where you live.
