First beer of the new year, no so fresh outta the Vntg fridge. Rich bread and dark red fruit but with so musty wood and a bit of oxidation. Mutled red fruit like Xmas cake flav, dry barrel aged finsh

Not a stellar Barleywine to begin with, but it ages well. 10yrs old and still significant bitterness in the finish. Carbonation quite low, but there it’s enuf.

Nicely balanced and approachable for a barleywine, low carbonation and very slightly oxidized, but it doesn't distract from the burnt caramel and aged hop quality of the beer.

Really quite impressed for 9 years old, loads of pecan, toffee, maple, and almond. Only just a touch oxidized, no more so than a Barleywine of this age should be. Thoroughly enjoying this one. Thanks for the taster Steven!

Just found some very old beer I had misplaced. Smells a bit off, or maybe like an ‘old ale’. Fairly thin body, a small alcohol bite, still has some bitterness, but also tastes a little cardboard.
