Light lager beer, with a decent ABV.

It’s been a couple years since we brewed our Imperial Pilsner that Oliver wants to call a Malt Liquor, but doesn’t even though it is crafted like a Malt Liquor instead of an Imperial Pils...confused? Don’t be!

This lager is as straightforward as they come. We do use quite a bit of hops in this big lager to balance the sweetness, but we age it for an extended time to help mellow the impact of the hops. We want to reduce the impact of the hops, because of the lightness of the beer. Using rice and corn really lowers the density of this beer’s body. If you serve it too young the hops will drown out the subtle malt character that is left.

A big difference with this year’s batch compared to past is the final gravity. In order to create a more big honkin’, light lager beer, with a decent abv we decided to really let this one go to ferment out as much of the fermentable sugars as possible. Which does give you a more refreshing light lager, with a little more kick on the alcohol side.
