2017 version. All caramel and none too hoppy. Mark sez too hoppy when fresh. This is one fine barleywine at 5 years on! (Added for data)

Unique smell always like a cleaner such as windex. Starts sweet turns into pure boozy lines and ends in heat. As you drink the caramel or toffee sweetness starts to meld into a more complex ale and the boozy heat fades.

Smells sweet and boozy. Hints of dates and caramel or toffee. Reddish brown in color and far darker than 2020 edition. Heat on the palate and more akin to the smell. Better than I recall, mellowed out a bit.

Vertical flight pt. 1. Same ballpark as aged Double Crooked Tree. Bourbon comes through as it warms.

Not too hoppy after 5 years, but still something off with this. Something bitter behind the sweetness, that just sets it off a little bit. Regardless, Conal M. enjoyed it, so that's something. Body is fine, just an off taste.
