During the 2022 WeldWerks Invitational Festival, we invited our good friend Austin from Forager Brewery to come sit down and taste some barrels with us. After sampling a handful of barrels, we landed on a blend of eight-year-old Thomas H. Handy Rye barrels and Henry McKenna 10-year Bottled in Bond Bourbon barrels. Following in Forager's footsteps, we chose three varieties of vanilla beans from around the world that would each bring its own unique vanilla flavors to best fit the barrel profile of our final blend. Our selections of beans come from Uganda, the Republic of Congo, and Tanzania and, while each are distinct on their own, together they truly shine and make this a one-of-a-kind barrel-aged imperial stout.
