BBA The Epic Tale of Robert Linzy - Bock

A full bodied bock aged 10 months in Jim Beam bourbon barrels. Rich, full bodied maltiness with notes of vanilla, light caramel, bread crust, dried dark fruit, and oak.
“The Inimitable” Robert Linzy was born in 1911, right here in Geneva, NY. Already in the Army by the time WWII broke, Linzy served with the primarily African-American unit, the 761st Tank Battalion. The Battalion, as was the case with many minority units, trained exceeding hard but were unjustly marked for non-combat. The 761st, with their rally cry of “Come Out Fighting” were eventually rated “superior” and “combat ready” in 1944. They went on to fight valiantly in the Rhineland, also with the 101st in Bastogne at the Battle of the Bulge, and around Germany for Gen. Patton. Linzy refused his Army desk job and headed straight for the front lines, joining Lt. Weston’s Tank Crew. In 1997, a “wrong was righted,” when seven African-Americans were finally awarded, most posthumously, the Medal of Honor for their services in WWII. We made this beer to celebrate Robert Linzy and all those brave souls that history must remember.
