Barleywine - English
A distinctly warming beer 0 sheer decadence for the darker, colder times of year. The addition of lots of caramelised orange peel provides a powerful zesty orange note that will age to a beautiful marmalade flavour. Working in counterpoint, the pomegranate molasses provides a bright fruity acidity shining through the caramel malt and sweetened orange back bone of the beer. To add an extra element we have combined Amarillo and Summit hops late in the boil (and condition with more caramelised orange peel) to accentuate the orange imparted in the aroma against a background of pine.
Barley wines are one of the biggest and boldest of the historical English beer styles, often brewed with reverence and with a certain occasion or event in mind. Their high ABV and big flavours make them perfect for cellaring and aging. Rich and decadent with heavy caramel notes, low hop aroma and some fruity easters, perfect for after dinner, fireside drinking or with pungent cheeses.
III was brewed to celebrate our 3rd year of brewing and it landed on batch number 333! To commemorate this special occasion our co-founders Andrew and Brett got together behind the levers, gauges and pumps to create their third anniversary beer the way they started the brewery. Show Less
This was a bit disappointing for a barleywine.
