Good King XII

This highly drinkable, Czech style lager was named after “Good King Wenceslas” who is known as the patron saint of Bohemia and beer. He earned his endearing nickname after convincing the Pope to revoke the ban on non-monastic brewing in Prague back in the year 1250!

The XII represents 12° Plato, which is how beer strengths are often communicated to the consumers in the Czech Republic, who just so happen to drink more beer per capita than anyone else in the world — Na zdraví ?!

Good King XII pours a light golden color into a glass and froths with tasty, drinkable foam. It was brewed with Bohemian floor malted pilsner and a touch of biscuit malt then hopped assertively in the kettle with floral, lemony, Czech Saaz.

After a slow, cool fermentation we transferred this lager to a cold, horizontal conditioning tank to encourage the traditional flavors and aromas to find harmony over the course of 8 weeks.

You can expect a light body with smooth malt flavors balanced by hop bitterness and a nice, dry, crisp finish that calls you in for another swig.

We get notes of sweet grainy malt, flaky biscuits, bright lemon zest, fresh herb garden, and Czech brewery cellar. Show Less
