Every time we brew Zima, our annual barley wine, we try to push our limits in some way and this season we went big: 36° plato, 11,8% ABV and almost four months of lagering. Most of it we filled into some lovely barrels so you have something to forward to, but we decided to release a small portion as a teaser now. This thick, ruby-red beer of sirup-like consistency is fully malt-forward. We thought that all the cranberries, cherries and dark grapes on the nose would work nicely with a touch of smoke and added some Ancho chillies. Don’t expect spiciness though, just a tiny hint of smoked plums in the aroma and little warmth in the finish to balance the intense sweetness that naturally comes with these numbers. Show Less
