Jockeys, Juleps & Jesus

The Mill in Fuquay approached us with another off the wall idea for a beer and we happily accepted the challenge: a Mint Julep inspired ale. This beer is a low-hopped and heavy handed with the rye and flaked corn, similar to a bourbon mash. We added bourbon soaked oak chips in the fermentation to give a subtle whiskey character. In the bright tank we added a small dose of mint to give it that signature cocktail flavor. Just in time for the upcoming Kentucky Derby on May 4th enjoy this ale with a large hat or seersucker suit.
