Roes Red (Batch 6)

Presenting batch #6 of our Flanders-style red ale, Roes Red—named after the Belgian town of Roeselare where the style originally developed. This is the first batch that aged in our new 1000 gallon Barolo cask from Italy; the aging process was initiated last year with a 50/50 blend of fresh Roes Red and one year old Roes Red, which had previously aged in French oak. The result is a deep red-mahogany colored ale with notes of cherry, dates, red currants and toast. The complexity of this beer is further driven by Winslow's proprietary blend of yeast strains—Belgian in origin—which produce sour lactic and acetic characteristics.
