Idaho 7 & Cryo POP Double IPA in collaboration with Yakima Chief and Loughran Malt.
We were humbled to be asked by the hop gods @yakimachief to collaborate with them in using their brand new Cryo Pop™ hop blend (formerly known as TRI 2304CR) , and naturally we didn't have to think too long, or hard, before giving the project a big thumbs up .
We put our heads together with James and Will from Loughran Brewing Stores (who supply us with these YCH supercharged hop nuggets) to come up with the brew spec and the lads hit the road and joined us for an epic brew day here at OBB.
We used Irish Pale Malt, flaked torrified oats, flaked barley and Cara Clair, from Loughran farms, and we've fermented with London III yeast strain for a higher finishing gravity, more residual body, and juicy tropical sweetness.
The baseline hop profile is built on super-fresh, sticky, YCH Idaho 7 ® leaf hops in the boil giving us beautiful pungent tropical fruit and citrus (think apricot, orange, red grapefruit, papaya) with big notes of resinous pine and hints of black tea and then we have intense waves and waves of ripe stone fruit, strawberry mixed with bright fresh citrus, lime, lychee and gooseberry. An massive sensory experience that is truly unique.
