Ronald Edward Santo was born in Seattle on February 25th, 1940. Diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes at the age of 18 in an era when the average life expectancy of a juvenile diabetic was thought to be around 25 years old, odds are stacked against him early on.
Ron Santo was anything but average, he defied the odds during his entire 15-year Hall of Fame career at third base. When his award laden time on the field came to a close, Santo moved into the radio booth and spent 21 seasons cheering on his beloved "Northsiders."
Ron Santo was also a tireless fundraiser, and helped raise more than $60 million for type 1 diabetes research. We're proud to continue his work by donating a portion of the proceeds to the JDRF. Cheers to Ron! Show Less
