CAPTAIN ROSS MACPHERSON SMITH and LIEUTENANT KEITH MACPHERSON SMITH quipped the registration of their winning Vickers Vimy aircraft - G-EAOU - stood for "God 'Elp All Of Us".
Smiths' fellow crew members, mechanics SERGEANT WALTER HENRY SHIERS and SERGEANT JAMES MALLETT BENNETT, are 2019 Australian Aviation Hall of Fame inductees. aahof.com.au
Alliance Airlines salutes the heroic efforts of the crew and the outstanding technical abilities and determination of Bennett and Shiers that not only enabled the completion of The Great Air Race, but the winning of it.
The preserved aircraft is on public display at Adelaide Airport.
