Sereen - Barrel-aged wild blonde ale with purple lilac and stinging nettle.
A quiet balance, an accessible experience. If flowers or stinging nettle are not ususally your preferred flavours, Sereen will surprise you with its subtle notes and welcoming character. The wild purple lilac flowers were macerated in the beer for two weeks, creating a soft floral perfume. The stinging nettle (harvested in foodforest Ketelbroek) is mostly present in tannic notes, that form a bitter finish together with the green parts of the flowers. The combination of mild acidic notes and bitters gives a good balance to this beer. Sereen was aged on a single oak barrel for 24 months, which translates to light notes of almond and cinnamon. Limited edition.
Sereen forms a twin release with Stuimig, a yin and yang of white and purple lilac flowers. We created two completely different beers to underline the individual qualities of the lilacs. The idea comes from our brewers Robbert and Vincent, who each chose a lilac variety to pair with a matching beer from our barrelhouse. Sereen is the signature beer of Vincent and Stuimig is the signature beer of Robbert.
