Chac-Mool

Imperial Stout with an obsidian black colour, luscious texture and full body like outer space mantle. This brew is flavoured with Mexican hot chocolate, which provides a harmonious combination of dark chocolate and cinnamon flavours with a classic roasted malt character.

This brew is a triple homage to: “Chac-Mool” a type of Toltec-Maya stone statue found in Mexico; the masterpiece film “2001: A Space Odyssey” [1968] by the American director Stanley Kubrick [1928-1999]; and the graphic design legacy by the English graphic artist Barney Bubbles [1942-1983].

The label depicts the interpretation of “Time” separating Past and Future from the poles and unites them at the centre. Past is represented by Chac-Mool and the Toltec Warriors standing on the top of their temple - the surface of the moon. Future is portrayed as the Jupiter's alignment in the background from the film scene of "2001: A Space Odyssey", where the astronaut is just about to enter the stargate, witnessed by the mysterious black monolith suspended in the space in a horizontal position. The colour scheme and the layout that surround the central motif are derived from the Barney Bubble's cover artwork for the album “In Search of Space” [1971] by Hawkwind.

The logo font is derived from the logo of "2001: A Space Odyssey" film in the opening scene. Show Less
