Given a choice between this and the rum barrel aged, I prefer this. It looks very 'old engine' oily but has strong raspberry notes that complement the vinous character very well. Most enjoyable.

A bit different to the norm. Chocolate and hints of coffee but then a tart raspberry kicks in. Body wise a bit average, not that slick oily stout I want but as it’s a random Christmas Eve surprise from the other half. Rioja barrel you can sense it

Wow - this is just great stuff. Raspberry on the nose, fruity (cherry?) flavour with some chocolate malts, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. It’s boozy without tasting strong; the barrel aging is subtle yet gives it a warming winey personality.
