Roggen Heu

Rye straw has been an essential element of lager brewing for centuries. In the days before stainless steel later tuns, the mash would be poured over a bed of rye straw in a wooden tub to separate the sweet wort from the grain solids. This dry, refreshing lager is brewed from pilsner malt, 30% rye malt, and spalt hops. A single decoction with a 40 minute rösten boil makes for a smooth presentation of the bittering hops, and the high protein rye malt adds a mild sweetness and full mouthfeel to balance and compliment the late addition aroma hops. The beer is packaged with kraussen for a soft, natural carbonation that will continue to develop in the bottle as time goes on. Show Less
