As we'd spent much of yesterday in Harvey's country it seemed right to finish the day with this. And what a fine bottle it is! Deep, dark, rich, roasty. Unctuous and full-bodied. Liquorice, camphor wood, dried fruit. Not as tart as sometimes. Bloody good!

Andy Turpin: View looks back along the River Ouse towards Cliffe and Malling Down. Incidentally. Lewes is the only town in Britain with three High Streets. Cliffe High Street down by the river. Lewes High Street up the hill by the castle and Southover by the priory.

[18.12.15] Intense plums and malt. Extreme thick and dense. Malt, dried plums. Very dry, hints of typical Stout-sourness. Burned, dry, roast. Not too much bitterness in the end, but a nice malt-bitterness from the roasted malt together with a bit of hops.

Got this big hitter out half an hour before the New Year arrived. This iteration is very different from previous tastings. Still thick and unctuous of course but way more tart than usual. Liquorice, cough candy, but not too sweet. A nutty, earthy finish.
