Catherine Bourbon Barrel-Aged (2017)

This stout was originally brewed in the mid 1700's by Imperial order of the Russian Empress, Catherine the Great. Because of Catherine's incessant demands for this robust beer, the style became known as Russian Imperial Stout. One can only imagine that Catherine must have relished in its dense body while savoring the intense flavors with notes of unsweetened chocolate, toffee, and caramel. Four Seasons has duplicated this recipe by using the darkest malts to create the deepest color with concentrated flavors that arrive after aging in bourbon barrels for one year.
