Sometimes the best intended names go a bit awry. When Tony Gentle and his son-in-law Bill Krause started Kum & Go in 1959, they thought only of the cleverest way they could incorporate their initials into the store name. It didn’t occur to them that others might see it differently.

So as we help Kum & Go celebrate 58 years in the convenience business, we are taking the opportunity to explain it once and for all - the K stands for Krause and the G for Gentle. Just like their name, the beer cleverly combines three Iowa greats - Exile’s Sir-Mocha-Lot with Kum & Go Java Ridge coffee aged in Cedar Ridge Bourbon barrels for a taste that’s celebratory, no matter what it’s called.
