A trip to Oregon by one of our brewers, Chris, inspired this year’s Bird Dog Pale Ale. Bird Dog is evolving into our soon to be released bottle conditioned I.P.A. and whilst this is happening we have been pushing the boundaries in the brewhouse with our new Bird Dog hopback.
Chris met many inspiring brewers across Oregon but one guy stood out – Brian Faivre at the Deschutes Brewery in Bend. The welcome mat was well and truly rolled out and in the typical manner of all Oregonians, Brian and the Deschutes team took great care of our young lad and he hasn’t shut up about the experience since he’s got back!
We are hoping that by letting Chris brew a beer honouring Brian and his Deschutes team that we might all get some peace until the next time he ventures back to the I.P.A state of Oregon.
“Brian” is a full on pale ale in the US style using huge quantities of hops in the hopback, delivering a rich resiny collaboration of the best the US and NZ has to offer. A mid-winter offering of hops for the hopsters out there!
There’s not much of Brian to go around (of slight build he was….) it should keep y’all on the hop resin I.V drip until Bird Dog hits the shelves, so go on, raise a pint of Brian and here’s to all things hoppy.
