Barleywines can be mixed for me, but I quite like this one, even only aged a year. Caramel sweetness and hops balance each other well, with nice layers of pine, citrus, and coriander. Smooth with a dry finish. Have 2 bottles, so we'll see in a year!
2019. Still some hop bitterness. American in presentation. Steeped grain. Not so much crystal malt sweetness. In fact not super sweet at all. It is very drinkable. Booze heat is not present but it feels heavy in the mouth.
I’m gob-smacked. Malted hoppy bitterness, with caramel and toffee nicely complementing the - wait for it - sherry flavour. Can even taste the notes of pine! And bonus points for the 11.6% ABV. Well done Driftwood Brewhouse!Earned the Birthday Brew badge! Earned the Wheel of Styles (Level 15) badge!
