Very nice expression of an Imperial Ale. Smooth with a very forward black licorice overtone, but don't let that scare you - this a very nice dark beer. Very nice ale!

Martin S: Have not had one yet that I could peg as "brown sugar", would love to have a taste in combination with coffee and chocolate...
sara: I get it at the end and it sits in my mouth for a bit. Coffee first, chocolate right after then the brown sugar.
sara: I get it a lot more when I let it warm up.
Martin S: Funny how we can separate sugar, brown sugar and with beer lactose. Wonder what a molasses flavoring would be like.
sara: For me: Molasses is sickly sweet. Almost syrup like with too much sugar but a hint of bitter. Brown sugar is like cookie, bready sweet.

Malty and sweet. Tastes of cold press coffee, molasses, and brown sugar. I’m happy this has some body. It would be nice if the foamy head didn’t dissipate so quickly. Doesn’t taste overly boozy for 11% but I’m feeling the effects after a short pour.

This almost tastes like an aged beer, already. Leave it in a whiskey barrel for a year and a maple barrel for another year and it will win international awards. This beer has unlimited potential!
